We all know that Google will eventually be integrating Google+ into most of their already existing services. We have already seen some integration within Youtube, and the Google+ bar can be found at the top of search and Gmail already. This afternoon, Mark Striebeck, a Google Engineering Manager specializing in Gmail, announced further Google+ integration within Gmail itself.
Beginning today, Google+ messages shared with you by someone who has sent you an email will appear in the Gmail People widget to the right hand side of your message. The feature can be seen in action in the image below:
According to Mark, this is just the beginning, or the first tiny step in what will be several ways Google+ will be integrated into the Gmail service. At the current time, only Gmail users who have Google+ accounts will see the posts in the People widget. If you have yet to see this feature in your own account, you will shortly. They plan on gradually rolling it out to everyone “very soon”.
